UFC Strikes $7.7 Billion Deal with Paramount

In a move set to transform how UFC fans watch fights, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has signed a historic $7.7 billion (₹64,000+ crore) deal with Paramount and CBS. Starting in 2026, the UFC will ditch its traditional pay-per-view model in the U.S., making all events available to stream via Paramount+ at no extra cost.

A Game-Changing Move for Combat Sports

Announced by UFC President Dana White and confirmed by Paramount on Monday, this seven-year deal marks one of the largest media rights agreements in combat sports history. White called the deal “incredible for UFC fans and our athletes,” adding that it “puts UFC amongst the biggest sports in the world.”

For the first time, U.S. fans will be able to watch all UFC events — including 13 numbered fights and 30 Fight Nights — with just a standard Paramount+ subscription. Select major events will also be simulcast on CBS, providing even wider exposure.

Current Pay-Per-View Model to Continue Until 2025

Under the UFC’s existing agreement, fans in the U.S. must hold an ESPN+ subscription and pay $79.99 per premium event. This will remain in place until the end of 2025, meaning upcoming events like UFC 319 will still follow the current PPV pricing model.

From 2026 onwards, Paramount+ subscribers in the U.S. will get full access to UFC fights without extra charges — a major shift aimed at making the sport more affordable and accessible.

What This Means for Indian Fans

While the deal is currently exclusive to U.S. broadcasting rights, it could influence how UFC content is distributed globally, including in India. Paramount has expressed interest in acquiring UFC’s international rights once they become available. If successful, Indian fans could potentially enjoy UFC fights without expensive PPV fees in the future, possibly via Paramount+ or other partnered platforms.

For Indian MMA enthusiasts, this deal signals a trend towards more subscription-based sports streaming and less reliance on costly one-time purchases. As UFC expands its reach, expect bigger events, higher production quality, and potentially more regional engagement.
