The long-running animated comedy “South Park” is once again stirring controversy — this time involving the Department of Homeland Security — ahead of its upcoming Season 27, Episode 2, set to air Wednesday night on Comedy Central and stream on Paramount+ the following day.
DHS and “South Park” Exchange Jabs on Social Media
On Tuesday, the show’s official X account teased the episode, titled “Got A Nut,” with a still showing Mr. Mackey dressed as an ICE officer alongside a character resembling DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. The episode’s plot follows Mackey after he “loses his job” and “desperately tries to find a new way to make a living.”
The Department of Homeland Security fired back later that day, posting its own image from the teaser featuring ICE agents driving and linking to a recruiting page for applicants.
By Tuesday night, “South Park” responded with a biting post:
“Wait, so we ARE relevant? #eatabagofdicks”
The jab referenced a previous White House statement claiming the show “hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years” after it lampooned former President Donald Trump in its Season 27 premiere.
Episode Preview Brings Back Trump, Satan, and Sharp Political Satire
The preview for “Got A Nut” teases the return of a satirized Trump, portrayed as Satan’s reluctant lover — a storyline that debuted in the season’s first episode. In the clip, Eric Cartman appears at a town hall meeting, lashing out at another character by saying she “hates America and loves abortions.”
The premiere earlier this season mocked Trump’s habit of suing opponents, depicting him filing lawsuits against the entire town of South Park over opposition to government-led Christian education. Trump was also portrayed with exaggeratedly small genitals for comedic effect, appearing nude in multiple scenes with Satan, who rejects his advances.
The episode ended with a lifelike Trump wandering through a desert in a faux public service announcement, referencing his claim that a Paramount settlement would give him $20 million worth of “advertising and PSAs.”
Why “South Park” Is Moving to Paramount+
After years of streaming on HBO Max, the entire “South Park” catalog will officially move to Paramount+ starting Tuesday. This shift is part of a massive $1.5 billion deal between creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Paramount, which includes 50 new episodes over the next five years.
The agreement followed tense negotiations, with Parker and Stone reportedly threatening legal action against former NBCUniversal executive Jeff Shell — now set to become Paramount’s president after its merger with Skydance — for allegedly interfering with other potential deals.
In a recent post on X, Parker and Stone didn’t hold back:
“The merger is a sh—tshow and it’s f—ing up ‘South Park.’ We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”
